Tutkimukseni on keskittynyt psykoterapian prosesseihin, mekanismeihin ja vaikutuksiin. Lyhyesti: Mitkä ovat potilaaseen tai asiakkaaseen, psykoterapeuttiin ja terapiasuhteeseen liittyvät tekijät, jotka vaikuttavat psykoterapian tuloksellisuuteen? Olen kiinnostunut sekä yhteisistä että spesifisistä prosesseista eri terapiasuuntauksissa ja näiden välillä. Tutkimiani terapiasuuntauksia ovat mm. psykodynaaminen, ratkaisukeskeinen, tunnekeskeinen ja kognitiivis-behavioraalinen terapia. Väitöskirjani ja pitkäaikainen tutkimusmielenkiintoni kohde ovat myös psykoterapeutit. Mitkä ovat tehokkaan psykoterapeutin yksilölliset ominaisuudet – ja miten ne kehittyvät koulutuksen, työnohjauksen ja ammatillisen työn aikana?
